The excitement has started: I booked my trip to Stockholm. Many language apps, conversations with Swedish correspondents and last-minute travel purchases later, I'm more then ready to visit the country I'm currently most obsessed with; Sweden. And my first stop will be Stockholm.
My trip to Stockholm is going to be so much different from all the trips I made in my life so far. Not only because it will be the first time to visit Scandinavia, I also handled the preparations quite different then before.
Thanks to the online world I found the opportunity to get connected with Swedes before I even visited the country. As the well-read person I am (well, not really) I learned that Swedish people are shy and reserved. So why not use the magic of the internet to meet some people from a safe distance. Also a handful of language applications on my phone made the conversations come up easily.
Soon I made a few Swedish 'friends' who welcomed me with open digital arms to their culture. In preparation of my trip to Stockholm, I asked some locals for some golden tips during my visit. You will find out what experiences that will deliver me in my next post.
So;
- warm clothes, check!
- a un-lady-like small amount of liquid makeup (handbagage rules ugh...), check!
- last-minute hair dye, check!
- a decent amount of Happy Socks, not even bought in their natural habitat, check!
- a few Swedish words and freshly gained knowledge to break the Ice, check!
